Butte County VINELink Coverage Status
Butte County publishes no official public booking roster. That leaves VINELink as a main custody option. Idaho VINE runs statewide under the Idaho Sheriffs' Association, with Appriss linking it to jail booking systems and the Idaho Department of Correction. The service sends incarceration-status notices, and Idaho sources also describe court-notification functions.
Jail standards make one thing clear. VINE only works with jail-management data. Someone has to enter it into the system. A missing result can come from timing, spelling, or a release. It can also stem from a transfer or limits on what each agency displays publicly. For an urgent status check, call BCSO at (208) 527-8553 ext. 0.
Search an Arrest on Idaho VINELink
Start with the direct Idaho person-search screen. Its look can change by browser or session. Read the jurisdiction and the labels before you type anything.
- Open the Idaho VINELink person search and confirm Idaho is selected.
- Search by offender name or an identifier when the interface offers it. Try verified spelling variants rather than assuming one failed search settles the question.
- Compare enough identifiers to avoid confusing people with similar names. Do not publish extra personal details.
- Open the matching record and note the custody status, facility, identifier, and time shown.
- If there is no match or the result conflicts with a direct jail answer, call BCSO and record when each check was made.
The Idaho person-search screen appears empty, before any personal details are entered.

This screen handles one named person. It will not list everyone booked in Butte County. Alerts are a backup, not a substitute. Keep the official VINE line, (866) 984-6343, separate from the jail switchboard. If phone alerts repeat, enter the four-digit PIN from registration. Never share that PIN, and never lean on an alert alone when safety is at stake.
What Idaho VINELink Can Show
What shows depends on the agency and record. Treat each field as time-sensitive, and confirm any urgent safety decision directly.
| Information | How to interpret it |
|---|---|
| Custody status | A status supplied by the connected agency, not a complete criminal history |
| Facility | The reported holding site; it can change after transfer or release |
| Offender identifier | A tool for matching the correct record when displayed |
| Movement or release | A custody change that may trigger a registered alert |
| State-prison information | IDOC movement or status where the state system supplies it |
| Court notification | A separate supported function in some Idaho VINE contexts, not a final disposition record |
| Booking photograph | Not the purpose of VINE and not assured |
A county release field marks departure from that one jail. It does not prove freedom from every hold. State, federal, other-county, probation, parole, warrant, and court holds can all still apply. For state prison, probation, or parole, use IDOC's resident/client search. Federal custody needs the relevant federal locator.
Register for Idaho Custody Alerts
Locate the right record first. Then follow the registration path VINELink displays. Idaho sources describe free automated updates by telephone, text, or email, depending on the service screen and record.
- Open the correct person record and choose the option to register for notification.
- Select an available contact method and enter contact details privately on the official service.
- For telephone registration, create and retain the required four-digit PIN. IDOC notes that calls may repeat until the PIN is entered.
- Choose the offered custody-change categories, review the consent language, and confirm registration.
- Keep a second safety plan. An alert can be delayed and does not guarantee an exact release time.
The VINELink registration interface shows the notification workflow itself.

The registration screen lays out the choices. Never put a real phone number, email, or PIN in a public screenshot.
Confirm Butte County Custody Changes
VINELink is not a booking roster. It is not a warrant search, photo gallery, or court-disposition system. Federal prison and immigration detention sit outside its reach. A "not found" result has many causes. The person may be outside the searched custody, entered under another spelling, already released or transferred, not yet propagated to VINE, or hidden from public view.
For a fresh arrest, follow the Arrests Last 24 Hours verification route and call the sheriff. Do not approach anyone over an alert. An alert that never came means just as little. Use 911 for an emergency, not a jail switchboard or a records request.
Idaho State Custody After Arrest
IDOC belongs to Idaho's VINE framework. Its own resident/client search remains the official lookup for state prison, probation, and parole. County booking and state supervision differ. A person may leave Butte County Jail and transfer to IDOC. Another stays in county custody. No state result appears for that one. The IDOC VINE restoration notice documents that Idaho VINE service returned in March 2024, with phone support and automated updates.

That notice backs state-system availability. It does not prove every current Butte County Jail record appears there. The IDOC resident/client search updates daily, per its own guidance. It is no same-day county arrest feed. When state and county sources conflict, ask the named agency. It can clarify the latest custody movement.
VINE Alerts Versus Court Records
VINE answers custody questions. Idaho iCourt answers a different one. It shows whether a public, unsealed court matter has been filed and what the docket says next. A case can lag behind the arrest. It can also persist after release. It can stay hidden because it is sealed, exempt, juvenile, or never filed. The official iCourt Portal supports Smart Search by case or record number and by party name. Use the format "Last, First." Later entries may add hearings, charging amendments, pleas, trial activity, and disposition. For a legal outcome, court records are the right route. For a status alert, VINELink is. The Butte County arrest-record guide ties the jail, public-records form, court portal, and IDOC sources together.
Safe Use of Butte Custody Data
Check more than one identifier before trusting a match. Common names collide. Never publish a home address, phone number, birth date, medical details, family information, or a notification PIN. Even when aggregate arrest statistics stay public, juvenile and exempt records may remain protected.
VINE is an alert tool. It is not for monitoring or confronting anyone. Never treat a missing result as proof of safety. Third-party photos and names can be stale, incomplete, mismatched, or legally changed, and no booking-photo gallery is hosted here, so let official sources and the latest direct agency confirmation take priority.
When a Butte Search Fails
Start over with a verified spelling or identifier. Confirm Idaho is selected. Stop widening into unrelated names if the person still will not surface. Call BCSO and ask whether the person is held, released, transferred, or under another authority. Staff may be unable to disclose a protected or very recent record.
Need documents instead of live status? Use the county public-records form and describe the date, event, custodian, and record type. Requesting a booking record does not register a VINE alert. Registering an alert does not pull the booking file. The tasks are separate.
For a court outcome, follow iCourt through the later docket entries. Want a booking photograph? Ask the record custodian directly whether that booking photograph is releasable. Idaho booking law creates no public online photo right. VINELink is not a photo source.
BCSO's official county contact lists Sheriff Dave Hansen at 256 W. Grand Ave., Arco, Idaho 83213, with the jail and non-emergency number (208) 527-8553 ext. 0. The Idaho Sheriffs' Association jail directory lists the Butte County Jail mailing address. That address is P.O. Box 130, Arco, Idaho 83213. It also lists a rated capacity of eight, which is not a current population count. Those contacts resolve failed searches. Never treat the capacity as proof a named person is present.
For a transfer, ask which agency took custody and when. Then move to that agency's own system. A federal transfer belongs in the Bureau of Prisons locator. That applies only after federal custody is established. Immigration detention has its own locator, and a state transfer belongs in IDOC's search. VINELink's scope is not universal.
Save the confirmation time, source name, and record identifier. A later custody change can be compared accurately.
